Hella Ægissíðufoss

Small stroll along the Ytri-Rangá river to a gushing waterfall.

Hella Ægissíðufoss

Near the town of Hella in the south, there lies a nice little waterfall known as Ægissíðufoss. It can be accessed through a nice little path that starts at the Hella campground and follows the river downstream. It's a nice walk to a prime fishing location and a beautiful and lush spot. The walk is easily accessible, but as it's close to the river, it can be muddy and slippery. The hike is relatively easy and takes about an hour to complete. As you hike, you'll pass by fields and forests, and you'll have the opportunity to spot a variety of wildlife, including birds, sheep, and Icelandic horses. At the start, there is also a restaurant and Hella has a nice swimming pool as well as a supermarket and several hotels.
